LMA magazine the Manager goes digital

January 2010 saw the launch of the digital version of the LMA's magazine, the Manager.

To read the first online issue of the Manager, please click here.

The magazine aims to develop a deeper understanding of football management and coaching as a discipline and profession, promote football managers and coaches themselves, and explore the ways in which other industries might learn from football and vice versa, by drawing on the parallels between football management and business management.

the Manager offers unique insight into the football industry and one of the most high profile jobs in the country, with content from leading figures in the game and the broader business world. It is an important communication tool for the LMA in its continued effort to promote both management and coaching as a highly skilled profession. The challenges that football managers face are common across many businesses, day in, day out.

Commenting on the first online version, LMA Chief Executive, Richard Bevan said:

"the Manager is currently distributed to over 2000 of the game's most influential people and stakeholders: Club Chairmen, CEO's, Commercial Directors as well as the current and former professional football managers and coaches across the country. It is an ideal publication for brands and organisations to talk directly to football's decision makers.

"With the launch of the online version of the Manager, we now have the opportunity to reach a global audience and provide a distinctive perspective into top level management and the multi-faceted nature of the football manager's role."

The magazine features interviews with managers, coaches, sporting legends and industry leaders. This online issue includes the following features, amongst others:

  • Tony Pulis on teamwork
  • Gérard Houllier gives his views on the importance of France's National Football Centre
  • Steve McClaren discusses the style of football for which the Dutch are renowned
  • Corporate Image Consultant, Lucinda Slater, and Fulham Manager Roy Hodgson talk about influencing people
