Alex Ferguson has been fairly quiet since the end of the season, refusing to be drawn on why United slipped up and let their title crown glide into the hands of Premiership rivals Arsenal. Perhaps that's because every United fan knows that at the end of the day, they were better.
Clashes between the two teams have been legendary in the past – with the suspensions and fines still clear in our minds from the infamous Battle of Old Trafford back in September.
The two teams played each other four times last season, resulting in three draws (two in the League and one Community Shield) and one win for United in the FA Cup semi-final, which they went on to win.
The FA Cup was the only silverware Sir Alex Ferguson's men collected, having missed out on the Champions League following a crushing defeat to Porto, as well as winning the League – as Arsenal overtook them in the closing stages of the season.
In an exclusive interview with LMA, Fergie talks about that defeat to the Portuguese and now, European champions. He also cites Rio Ferdinand's absence due to suspension for failing to take a drugs test, combined with not having a regular back four, as the main reason for the club's failure to deliver more glory to the fans.
Ferguson's primary concern now, he says, is to make sure Manchester United improve next season – and steal their trophies back.
