Simon Davey earned the UEFA 'Pro' Licence in 2005 and holds an impressive CV that includes the Academy Managers Licence and UEFA 'Youth Licence'.

Davey became the manager of Barnsley on December 31, 2006 after a spell as caretaker manager. Previously, Davey was the Academy Manager at Oakwell joining in the summer of 2006.

He began his professional playing career with Swansea before moving to Carlisle.

After Carlisle, Preston North End spent £125,000 in 1995 and it was at Deepdale where he finished his career. During his time with Preston, Davey had a short spell on loan at Darlington.

Simon then moved into coaching after his career was shortened through injury. He began his coaching career at Preston under reigns of David Moyes and Craig Brown.

During his time in charge, Davey led Barnsley to The FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in 2008 with an impressive cup run which included famous victories over Liverpool and Chelsea. Davey and Barnsley parted company on August 29, 2009.
