Everton manager David Moyes has scooped the Barclays Manager of the Month award for January after the Toffees put in a string of solid performances which saw them remain unbeaten throughout the month and climb up to 12th in the table. After a difficult end to 2005, Everton kicked off the New Year in style with a 3-1 home success against Charlton. This was followed by an away win at Portsmouth (0-1) and another narrow home victory over Arsenal (1-0). Moyes' men ended the month with a fine 1-1 draw against high-flying Wigan, stretching their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions. It is the third time that Moyes has won the award, having also claimed the accolade in November 2002 and September 2004. Nic Gault, from the Barclays Awards Panel said: "At the start of the season, Everton found themselves at the wrong end of the table, but Moyes and his team have really started to turn things around by reproducing the kind of performances which took them into Europe last season."
