Manchester City caretaker manager Stuart Pearce has been selected the Barclays Manager of the Month award for April.

April saw City go six games unbeaten with three wins and three draws.

They had home wins over Liverpool (1-0), Birmingham City (3-0), and Portsmouth (2-0), with away draws at Charlton Athletic (2-2), Fulham (1-1) and Blackburn Rovers (0-0).

Since his appointment, Pearce's side has only been beaten once in the league, a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Spurs in his first game in charge.

Nic Gault, from the Barclays Awards Panel, said: "Stuart Pearce's passion for the game is there for all to see and with 12 points from six games, it looks like his positive approach has had an immediate effect on the City players."
