Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has scooped the Barclays Manager of the Month Award for April thanks to a haul of 14 points that saw the south coast side secure their Barclays Premiership status for another season. After a strong finish to March, Redknapp's men continued their fine form with an impressive 3-1 away win at Fulham on 1st April. Two solid home draws against Blackburn (2-2) and Arsenal (1-1) followed, before wins over Middlesbrough (1-0), Sunderland (2-1) and Wigan (2-1) helped cement Pompey's Barclays Premiership standing. Portsmouth suffered only one defeat in seven games last month, a 2-1 away defeat at Charlton. Matt Appleby, from the Barclays Awards Panel, said: 'Pompey enjoyed a fantastic run of form last month and, under intense pressure, Harry's experience clearly provided a boost for the players. His side continued to play attacking football at all times and were rewarded with a haul of 12 goals."
