Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell has won the Barclays Manager of the Month award for September.

Jewell guided the Latics to an impressive return of seven points from a possible nine as they recorded away wins against West Bromwich Albion (2-1) and Everton (1-0), as well as drawing 1-1 at home with Middlesbrough.

Jewell is enjoying his second stint in the top flight after previously guiding Bradford City to promotion in 1999, and it is the first time the former Wigan player has received the Barclays Manager of the Month award.
