Gary Megson was rewarded with the First Division Manager of the Month award for March after his West Brom team climbed the table to end up on level points with Wolves yesterday. The Baggies are now real Premiership prospects - and Dave Jones is certainly worried. Wolves seemed certain automatic promotion favourites at the beginning of the month - along with now runaway leaders Manchester City - but Megson's men may yet pip them at the post. The Baggies started the month with a vital away win (1-0) over Wimbledon - before slipping up (1-1) at home to Watford. Then came the FA Cup 6th Round defeat by Premiership Fulham - a result which seemed to focus the team on their promotion campaign. The most controversial match of the season followed - as West Brom were awarded all three points for the abandoned game at Sheffield United, three more wins over Nottingham Forest, Crewe and Barnsley to put Albion three points behind Wolves at the end of March. It's Megson's second manager of the month award during his time at The Hawthorns, the first coming in November 2000. Billy Dearden has been rewarded for turning round Notts County's fortunes by clinching the Division Two award, and Joe Kinnear - whose Luton team won seven out of seven in the month - clinched the Third Division award.
