Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has picked up April's Barclaycard Manager of the Month Award. During April, Portsmouth picked up 10 points from a possible 12, with an away win against Leeds (1-2), a draw against Charlton (1-1) and impressive home wins against Manchester United (1-0) and Birmingham City (3-1). This is the first time Harry Redknapp has picked up the Barclaycard Manager of the month award this season. Having won promotion to the Barclaycard Premiership last season, Redknapp has secured Portsmouth's top-flight status with an impressive run of results since Christmas to take the club clear of the relegation struggle. The decision was made by the Barclaycard Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans. Nic Gault of the Barclaycard Awards Panel said: "Harry Redknapp has a fantastic record in the Barclaycard Premiership. Newly promoted teams often struggle, but Portsmouth have played exciting football and given their fans great results like the win over Manchester United. "While Harry is known for creating great team spirit and getting the best out of his players one shouldn't underestimate a tactical intelligence that has served him well."
