Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti landed the Barclays Manager of the Month award for November after the Blues ended the month with three wins and three clean sheets to stay top of the Barclays Premier League.
Ancelotti’s side started the month with the visit of current champions Manchester United to Stamford Bridge. A late goal from captain, John Terry was enough to seal the win for Chelsea in what proved to be a closely fought contest between the two title rivals.
A potentially tricky home game with newly-promoted Wolves followed but three goals in the first 22 minutes, two from Michael Essien and one from Florent Malouda, set Ancelotti’s men on their way. The Blues eventually won the game 4-0.
Chelsea completed the month with a stunning 3-0 win away to an Arsenal side that have impressed in the Barclays Premier League this season. Two goals from the in-form Didier Drogba, and an own goal from Gunners’ defender Thomas Vermaelen ensured the Blues ended November with a 100 per cent record.
This is the first time that Carlo Ancelotti has won the Barclays Manager of the Month in his debut season in the Barclays Premier League. He joins compatriot Claudio Ranieri, who also won the award as Chelsea boss in March 2004, as only the second Italian to scoop the prize.
The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
