Sven-Goran Eriksson's superb return to management with Manchester City has been rewarded with the news that he has been named as the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

The Blues won their first three games without conceding a goal.

After being presented with his award, Sven said, "I'm honoured to get this award. We had a good start, but after receiving an award like this it's a must to thank the staff around me, the players, the club and the new owner.

"There's a lot of work gone behind the scenes here, but it's an honour and I'm very happy about it. As I have said before, this is the best league in the world and if you want to compete with other managers then you have to do so here."
