Crystal Palace got their reward for a great September as Dougie Freedman and Glenn Murray picked up the npower Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards.
With four wins and a draw, the Manager of the Month was awarded to Dougie Freedman, whose side topped the form charts for September and now look well set to contend for a Play-Off position this season.
A driving force behind this fine run was the clinical form of Glenn Murray. The ex-Rochdale striker bagged six goals in September, four from the penalty spot, and is a deserving winner of the Player of the Month award.
npower sponsorship manager Emma Collins said: "It's great to see a young manager doing so well, so we're delighted to be giving the npower Championship Manager of the Month award to Dougie. Crystal Palace's form in September was the best in the league, so it was one of our easier decisions."
Speaking about Dougie Freedman's win, panel member Alan Curbishley commented: "This award completes a fantastic month for Dougie with Palace remaining unbeaten and recording notable wins at home to Cardiff City and away at Bolton Wanderers. It's a great start to the season and I can see them occupying a place in and around the Play-Off positions at the end of the season."
