Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce has been named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for December. Birmingham City continued their impressive recent form in December, winning five of their six league games. Bruce's side began the month with victory over Plymouth Argyle and followed this by taking all three points against promotion rivals Preston North End. Their winning run continued throughout the Christmas period, with back-to-back away victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Southend United and a Boxing Day win over Queens Park Rangers. This unbeaten form saw the Blues head into the New Year as leaders of the Coca-Cola Championship. Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel said: "Full credit must go to Steve Bruce for the way in which he has turned things around at Birmingham. He endured a really difficult start to the season but since the Blues beat Derby back in October his side have gone from strength to strength. Their unbeaten run in December shows how well he has got his side playing and they are now starting to mount a serious challenge for the Championship title."
