Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson was named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for February.
Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City were the Championship’s form side in February, registering four wins and three draws from their seven league fixtures. They began the month with a narrow away victory over Blackpool before going on to record a resounding home win over Scunthorpe United. The Foxes unbeaten run continued with back-to-back away draws at Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle before rounding off a superb month with a comprehensive home win over local rivals Nottingham Forest.
Also short-listed for the February award were Chris Coleman of Coventry City, Brian McDermott of Reading and Swansea City’s Paulo Sousa.
Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: “Nigel Pearson put Leicester’s promotion challenge back on track in February, with his side taking 15 points from the month and remaining unbeaten. They have returned to form at the best possible time and now must be considered serious contenders for at least a Play-Off place in the Championship.”
Lee Clark of Huddersfield Town won the award in League 1 and John Sheridan of Chesterfield was given the League 2 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel. Headed by Alan Curbishley the panel also includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
