Brian McDermott of Reading has been named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for March.
Brian has enjoyed a remarkable run of success since taking charge of Reading at the end of last year. This fine form certainly continued in March, with his registering four wins and two draws from their six league fixtures. They began the month with three consecutive home victories over Derby County, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers respectively. The Royals unbeaten run continued away from the Madjeski Stadium with a draw at Middlesbrough and a narrow win at Leicester City before rounding off a superb month with a 1-1 draw against title-chasing West Bromwich Albion.
Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: “Brian McDermott has helped engineer a remarkable turnaround in Reading’s fortunes since taking charge at the end of last year. His side have enjoyed a tremendous run of form of late, which has see them go from strong relegation candidates to mid-table security. If they can maintain this form in the final weeks of the season there is no reason why the Play-Offs cannot become a realistic possibility for the Royals.”
