Preston North End manager Alan Irvine has been named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for April.
Irvine’s side enjoyed an incredible month in April, winning four and drawing one of their six league fixtures. A return of 13 points began with a four game winning streak, which included impressive wins away at Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City as well as a decisive 6-0 victory over Cardiff City. The Lilywhites then went on to clinch a dramatic victory over Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season to net the final Coca-Cola Championship Play Off spot on goal difference.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said:
“Preston experienced some incredible twists and turns in the last month. One minute they were out the picture for the Play Offs and then they beat Cardiff 6-0 and everything changed. That was clearly the pivotal result for Alan Irvine's men, and the significance of it wasn't realised until the last day of the season, when they sneaked into the Play-Offs. A fantastic achievement and I'm sure they'll take this momentum into the games against Sheffield United."
