Newcastle United caretaker boss Chris Hughton was named Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month for September.
Chris Hughton bagged successive monthly awards as his side maintained their impressive start to the season with an excellent month in September, achieving three wins and a draw from their five league fixtures. Their fantastic form continued with maximum points against Cardiff City, Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle. A dramatic draw against Queens Park Rangers ensured the Magpies finished the month as the early pace setters at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship.
Also short-listed for the September award were Ian Holloway of Blackpool, Jim Magilton of Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion’s Roberto Di Matteo.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel which includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
