Colchester United manager Phil Parkinson has been named Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month for January.

Parkinson's side enjoyed a fantastic run of results in January, taking maximum points from of each their four league games. They started the month with an impressive 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, and went on to record victories over Walsall, Bristol City and Port Vale respectively. This unbeaten run helped the U's end the month in the automatic promotion places and with the League 1 title still firmly in their sights.

Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Phil Parkinson's side have grabbed all the headlines for their FA Cup exploits this month but their league form has been just as impressive. To go unbeaten throughout January was a fantastic achievement and just shows how consistent they have been in recent weeks. Maintaining this sort of consistency will be vital if the U's are to continue their challenge for the League 1 title."
