MANAGER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY 2009
Coca-Cola Football League One

Colchester United boss Paul Lambert has been named Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month for January.

Lambert's side maintained their recent fine form throughout January, winning three and drawing two of their five league fixtures. They began the month with a creditable away draw at high flying Milton Keynes Dons before recording a resounding home win over Cheltenham Town. Their unbeaten run continued with further victories over Northampton Town and Carlisle United to leave the U's with a Coca-Cola League 1 Play-Off place now firmly in their sights.

Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Paul Lambert has done an amazing job at Colchester since taking charge in October last year. He has now made the most successful League start of any manager in charge of the U's which is a tremendous achievement and underlines the progress the club is making under him. Rather than being relegation threatened Paul has transformed the team's fortunes to the extent that a Play-Off place is fast becoming a realistic target."
