Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws has been named Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month for September.

After a disappointing start to the season Scunthorpe United hit top form in September, with five wins from seven league games. Laws' side secured their first victory of the campaign against Gillingham and went on to record further wins over both Cheltenham Town and Port Vale. The Iron ended the month by taking maximum points against local rivals Doncaster Rovers to preserve their unbeaten home record and move to within striking distance of the Play-Off places in Coca-Cola League 1.

Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Scunthorpe did not enjoy the best of starts to the new campaign but have really turned things around in September. Brian has put together a really strong squad with some prolific strikers and is building a football club that has every chance of success in League 1 this season."
