Leeds United manager Dennis Wise has been named Coca-Cola League 1 Manager of the Month for September. Having picked up the August award, Wise's side continued their fine form throughout September and remain unbeaten in the league this season. They began the month with back-to-back home wins over Luton Town and Hartlepool United and followed this with a comprehensive away win at Bristol Rovers. Wise's men were denied a perfect five wins from five league games after conceding a late equaliser in their final game of September at Gillingham but their terrific run has seen them cancel out their points deduction and move clear of the relegation places in Coca-Cola League 1. Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Leeds United have been the form team in The Football League in the first two months of the season. Dennis Wise has developed a tremendous character and team spirit at Elland Road which was there for all to see in the way his side battled to earn a draw at Gillingham, despite playing much of the second half with only nine men. To have already climbed out of the relegation places given their points deduction is a tremendous achievement and a tribute to how well Leeds have been playing."
