Rochdale boss Keith Hill was named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for December 2009.
Hill’s side enjoyed a terrific month in December, picking up five victories and a draw from their six league fixtures. Dale began the month with four straight victories which included comprehensive wins over Bradford City, Macclesfield Town and Shrewsbury Town. They maintained their unbeaten form with a solid point at Crewe Alexandra before rounding off December with a further three points against Morecambe. This impressive return of 16 points saw Hill’s men end the year in top spot in Coca-Cola League 2. Also short-listed for the December award were John Coleman of Accrington Stanley, Kevin Dillon of Aldershot Town and Morecambe’s Sammy McIlroy.
Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: “Keith Hill’s side continue to go from strength-to-strength in League 2. They enjoyed another hugely successful month, remaining unbeaten and scoring 19 goals in the process, to strengthen their grip at the top of the table.”
Billy Davies of Nottingham Forest won the award in the Championship and Paul Lambert of Norwich City was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel. Headed by Alan Curbishley the panel also includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
