Notts County boss Steve Cotterill was named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for April.
County dominated League 2 in April, with seven wins from eight games, including 21 goals and five clean sheets, as they sealed promotion to Coca-Cola League 1.
Cotterill’s team began the month with a 5-0 demolition of Play-Off chasers Bury, and continued their assault on the League 2 title with 1-0 away wins against Shrewsbury Town and Northampton Town. Three consecutive home wins against Lincoln City, Morecambe and Rochdale saw them over the promotion finishing line, and this week’s comprehensive five goal haul at Darlington’s Northern Echo Arena saw the Magpies crowned champions of Coca-Cola League 2.
Also short-listed for the April award were Eddie Howe of Bournemouth, Micky Adams of Port Vale and Torquay United’s Paul Buckle.
Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: “Steve Cotterill has been a revelation since taking charge at Meadow Lane back in February. He has helped engineer a devastating end of season run for the Magpies, with his side notching up six consecutive victories in April to seal promotion and also cap a remarkable campaign by lifting the League 2 title.”
Chris Hughton of Newcastle United won the award in the Championship and Lee Clark of Huddersfield Town was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel. Headed by Alan Curbishley the panel also includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
