Rotherham United manager Mark Robins has picked up the first managerial award of the new season after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for August. Robins' side have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season with three wins and a draw from their opening four league fixtures. A solid home win against Lincoln City put the Merry Millers on their way and they continued their early season form with wins away at Morecambe and at home to Chester City, before securing a well earned draw at Brentford at the end of the month. Rotherham United also complemented their league form with excellent results against Championship opposition in Rounds 1 and 2 of the Carling Cup, in the shape of Sheffield Wednesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Going into their League campaign with a 17 point deduction could have put the team in a negative frame of mind, but Rotherham have come out and given it a real go, and 10 points out of a possible 12, plus Cup wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves, mean they will have real hope of staying in the Football League come May."
