The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award should go to Derby County following their excellent 3-2 away win at the City Ground, in the fourth round of the FA Cup sponsored by E-ON on Wednesday 4th February 2009.
Derby manager Nigel Clough will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to be screened on Sky Soccer Saturday on 7th February 2009.
Derby County fought back from two goals down in a thrilling cup tie to beat Nottingham Forest and set up an FA Cup fifth round encounter with Manchester United.
It was Forest however, who got off to a stunning start, as goals from Chris Cohen and Nathan Tyson made it 2-0 after just 14 minutes.
Rob Hulse then started the comeback after heading home Gary Teale's cross before half time. After the break Paul Green nodded in another Teale centre to level it for Derby before ex-Forest player Kris Commons struck with a 20-yard drive to seal the win.
Derby assistant boss Gary Crosby was delighted with the win over their East Midland rivals;
"Forest came out of the blocks well and we didn't deal with it.
"But the response was magnificent. As soon as we got back to 2-1 I was always confident and we were the better side and created the better chances.
"The effort the lads put in was very, very good and if you do that you will get the rewards in the end."
