TREVOR CHERRY: FEBRUARY 1948 - APRIL 2020

LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson has today paid tribute to former Bradford City manager Trevor Cherry, who passed away aged 72.

Yorkshireman Cherry played for three of the county’s top clubs including his hometown team Huddersfield Town, Leeds United and Bradford City, where he held the roles of player-manager and later, manager. He also represented England 27 times throughout his playing career, once as captain.

In paying respect to Cherry, Wilkinson said: "Trevor Cherry was a consistent star on the pitch and very modest, polite and generous off it.

"During my successful times at Leeds United, he was always one of the very first to call and offer me his heartfelt and genuine congratulations. He was a true gentleman."

The LMA's thoughts are with Trevor's family and friends during this difficult time.
