The Brighton and Hove Albion boss Peter Taylor has again said that the club's star striker Bobby Zamora is not for sale.
The striker has been under the spotlight in recent weeks after the transfer rumours around him were conspicuous by their absence during the first few months of the season.
Apart from a predictable link to Leicester when the former Brighton manager Micky Adams moved to Filbert Street, the first recent link was when Everton began to suffer an injury crisis and the centre-forward was linked to the Merseyside club.
He was also linked to Brighton's South coast rivals Southampton again and, most recently, to Bolton Wanderers.
It was Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce who was present this weekend at Bury's Gigg Lane ground as the Seagulls faced the Lancashire club in the Nationwide League Division Two club.
Allardyce left the ground shortly after seeing Zamora score his eighth goal in eight games for Brighton – a club record – and it was one of his best, a classy chip while on the run.
Dean Saunders, now coaching forwards at Blackburn Rovers, was also present. He was sent by Bolton's Lancashire rivals to watch Zamora but Taylor said that the chances of Zamora moving away from the Albion were still minimal.
The Albion chief was delighted with a goal that Zamora said was the best he had ever scored.
"Bobby Zamora's execution for his first goal was fantastic. The finish was brilliant."
But the Seagulls boss was keen to point out that a swift move to the top tier would be too large a step taken too soon.
"He wants to play in the Premiership but when he gets there he wants to do it right and I think that at this stage staying with us would be a great help to his career.
"He is certainly very important to us but when the time is right and somebody offers us a fantastic sum then we will talk to the player.
"Until then I'm turning my phone off."
