WILSON HAPPY TO FORCE REPLAY

Bristol City manager Danny Wilson talked to Leaguemanagers.com after his side scored a last gasp equalizer to force a replay with non-league Kingstonian in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

A very relieved Danny Wilson saw Tony Thorpe equalize with virtually the last kick of the game to prevent the non-league giant killers from providing yet another amazing upset, and the Bristol boss admitted that his side had come very close to elimination.

"If you look at the 2,3 or 4 minutes before the end of the game, I don't think anyone would have thought we'd have got back in the game," he said.

"We had a lot of pressure and a lot of possession but really we didn't create a great deal, just half chances, apart from the first half when we had a couple of chances that we didn't stick away.

"We made a mistake for their goal and gave them something to hang on to and they defended superbly well for that. I'm sure they'll feel very, very disappointed not to come away with a win, losing the lead so late as they did."

Wilson praised the visiting non-leaguers, conquerors of Southend in the Third Round, for a gutsy performance that so nearly gave his opposite number Geoff Chapple another league scalp.

"Full credit to them - you cannot knock them at all," he declared. "They worked their tails off to stop us playing. They plugged holes and we really couldn't get down the sides of them.

"I'm praising our lads as they kept plugging away and didn't get disappointed, but again, from their point of view, they're through to the next round and then, all of a sudden, they're not."

He was very happy with substitute Tony Thorpe who grabbed the crucial equalizer right at the death.

"That's what Thorpie's there for," he said. "We brought him on because he sniffs a goal and he was delighted with himself. If it dropped to anyone in the box you wanted it to be Tony. He stuck it away well."

Looking ahead to the replay, which will be played at Brentford, Danny revealed that he is confident The Robins can book their place in the next round.

"We're confident," he confirmed, "but let's be quite honest, it's going to be a tough game with a terrific atmosphere, very partisan.

"We've got to go through it all again. It may be a different game - they may have to come out at us - but we'll wait and see. It's a relief that we're still in the Cup."
