28 Feb 2002 SIR ALEX WANTS IT DONE AND DUSTED
The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told his side that they must aim to wrap up the second stage of the UEFA Champions League in their next game.
He insists that the Reds should dispatch Bayern Munich if they expect to reach the last eight of the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds are top of Group A with eight points and require over two points to be guaranteed of progress in the competition.
The Red Devils manager is concerned that United should win the game because he does not like the idea of going into the last match – against Portugal's Boavista – needing even just one point when the chance is there to secure qualification with a game still to play.
"It looks like we have to win that now," he said. "If we win we are through. A draw is no use if Boavista beat Nantes in Nantes.
"But I think that's a difficult game and Nantes proved against us that they are a good football side.
"If they were to win a game in their league that would bring back some of their confidence and they could do okay against Boavista."
