Leicester City manager told Leaguemanagers.com that he was pleased to see his team get off to such an excellent start against Bristol City in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, after the Foxes went two goals up in the first 15 minutes at Filbert Street.
Asked what pleased him most about his team's good start, the Leicester boss told us:
"Exactly that because we've had a lot of games recently where we've watched for something to go wrong before we've got going.
"But at 3 o' clock we started very brightly, passed the ball well and got the ball forward to the front two well, so it's the best start we've had all season."
Leicester's first goal came from new signing Dean Sturridge after an excellently worked corner-kick routine but Taylor admitted that training ground moves don't always work out quite so well in the game.
"We've tried that a few times but believe it or not we've actually conceded a goal trying things like that so it was nice that it came off today. It was a great ball from Steve Guppy and it was nice to see Dean Sturridge get his second goal in two games."
Taylor was at a loss to explain why his team could not sustain their early dominance and he praised Danny Wilson's Second Division side for putting on a spirited display in the second-half.
"I don't know why we couldn't maintain it," he said. "All I kept saying at half time was let's go and get number three because then Bristol will be down and we'll still be confident.
"But I think when you're there at 2-0 up in a game when you've got lots of things to lose, you start protecting it too much.
"Bristol looked a good football team at times. They've got good players, it's obvious they're playing well and enjoy playing for Danny.
"I was a little nervous before the game. Thankfully we had a good start and in the end that's what got us through."
