West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that his talented young midfield pair Joe Cole and Michael Carrick are not for sale.
In response to Gerard Houllier's admission that he would be interested in bringing the youngsters to Anfield next season, Redknapp has ensured Hammers fans that he is not listening to offers for his emerging stars.
"I'm sure everybody would like them but they are going nowhere," he confirmed.
"I know we sold Rio Ferdinand for £18million but if we were to sell them as well we really should pack up. Let's be honest; where are we going? Rio's deal was a great offer but we've got our money in now.
"The chairman no more than I, wouldn't be interested in selling players like that. You'd end up in the First Division eventually if you started doing all that.
"We sold the one because the transfer system looked like going up the wall and it was too much to turn down at the time. But there's not a chance of this."
Carrick and Cole were both called up to the senior England squad by new England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson in his first game in charge, although Carrick was forced to withdraw from the party due to injury. Both players have had an excellent season at Upton Park and would appear to be set for a bright future in English football, both domestically and on the international stage.
