Former Brighton boss Peter Taylor has answered a call from his old friend Barry Fry to try and help reverse Peterborough's fortunes after the team's fifth defeat in a rows on Saturday.
The former England under-21 coach, who has had spells managing Southend, Gillingham, Leicester and Brighton, has agreed to lend his services to Peterborough on a temporary non-contract basis, and will assist Barry Fry as he bids to lift the Posh from second bottom of Division Two.
After beginning the season with a win over newly-promoted Luton Town, Fry's men have lost four games 1-0 - against Oldham, Huddersfield, Colcheser and most recently Port Vale. Their other defeat being a 2-0 loss to QPR.
The club are hoping that Taylor's input on the training field, assisting the manager, will help turn things round quickly at London Road.
Chief Executive Geoff Davey said: "Peterborough are delighted that Barry Fry has been able to facilitate his personal friend Peter Taylor into joining the club on a short-term, no-strings-attached basis in order to give the training and coaching staff and players a boost.
"I want to underline that there is absolutely no significance whatsoever about Peter Taylor's arrival, other than a personal favour to Barry Fry and Peterborough.
"We are most appreciative that a man of such calibre and someone in such demand should see fit to spend some time with us and we obviously hope his presence will produce the spark that is clearly necessary to turn what have been some decent performances into match-winning and saving results."
