Hull City manager Peter Taylor has teamed up with one of his former Leicester City colleagues by bringing Steve Butler in to Boothferry Park as first-team coach.
The former Gillingham striker was part of Taylor's coaching team at Filbert Street and joins the ex-Foxes boss at the Third Division club. Now the new Tigers boss is hoping to recruit Colin Murphy, who was his number two at Leicester, to become his assistant once again.
Murphy is currently part of the managerial team at Stockport County, with Carlton Palmer and Kevin Richardson, but enjoyed an excellent relationship with Taylor during their year-long spell at the Midlands club and is keen to link-up with the former England coach once again.
Taylor said: "With Steve in place I'm trying to get Colin Murphy here as my assistant and we’re currently talking to Stockport about that."
Stockport County's company secretary Gary Glendenning admitted on The Hatters' official website that negotiations with the Third Division club had begun.
"Dialogue with Hull has commenced," he said. "But at the moment nothing has been resolved."
