Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that Juan Sebastian Veron will still be at Old Trafford when the season starts after the Argentinian stole the show in a New York friendly.
'Seba' put in a man-of-the-match performance with two outstanding assists in United's 4-1 demolition of Juventus on their USA tour, sending 79,005 'soccer' fans wild in the Giants Stadium.
But despite the former Lazio ace being continuously linked with a £15million switch to Chelsea, the United boss reiterated that his playmaker is staying put.
"People keep seeing him on this tour and people still keep saying he is going," Ferguson said on Thursday night. "Unless he is going to be whisked from right under my nose they are wrong.
"Seba is a marvellous player. He has wonderful imagination; he always wants the ball and has a great engine. He was outstanding tonight."
With two magical assists at the start of the second half, few could argue that the 28-year-old showed the exceptional quality that he has so often seemed to lack since arriving at Old Trafford two seasons ago.
Although Ryan Giggs opened the scoring with a first-half free kick that many expected Veron to take, the midfielder was not going to stand in the Welshman's shadows for too long.
The second-half of the match witnessed a masterclass from the £28million man. His first assist allowed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to set up Paul Scholes for United's second before he delivered a perfectly-weighted pass for Van Nistelrooy to lash a first time volley into the net.
Ferguson was delighted with the way his side played, and particularly with the quality of finishing: "It was a magnificent goal," Ferguson said of the Dutchman's volley.
"I have seen him do that many times in training. He hits the ball with such power. It is a real feature of his game."
Despite Pavel Nedved pulling a goal back for the Italian champions, Solskjaer bagged the fourth and final goal to seal the Old Lady's fate.
The Premiership champions play their final game of their US tour on Sunday, taking on Spanish giants Barcelona in Philadelphia, where Ronaldinho is expected to line-up against the team he turned down in favour of a move to the Nou Camp.
