Today in a special ceremony at the Chelsea Training Ground, Peter Taylor will receive his award for winning the 2nd Quarter of the Tissot League. What gives the occasion a special significance is that the award will be made by the runner-up of the 2nd quarter, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
It has been an excellent eleven-week spell for Taylor and his Hull City team, during which they won 10 of the 13 matches they played, including a run of 6 consecutive victories to end the quarter.
In this spell they scored 37 goals including 6-1 and 4-2 wins against promotion rivals Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.
This impressive run of form has seen them rise to the top of Coca-Cola League 1, overtaking the early season pacesetters Luton Town.
3rd place in the final table for the quarter was Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws, followed by Sir Alec Ferguson in 4th position.
Bunched up behind Sir Alex in joint 5th positions was Tottenham’s Martin Jol and Yeovil Town’s Gary Johnson, reflecting their clubs’ excellent recent run of results.
