06 May 2005 ADAMS WINS TWO AWARDS IN THE WEEK
A historic week for Coventry City, in which they played their last ever match at Highfield Road has been capped by manager Micky Adams receiving two awards.
In a disappointing season Micky Adams was able to turn things around and secure the club’s position in the Coca-Coal Championship.
During April the club earned 11 points out of a possible 18 and have climbed out of the relegation zone up to 17th position. This has been recognised by the Football League’s sponsors, and as a result Adams has been awarded the Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month Award.
The final match at Highfield Road was an emotional day for all Coventry fans, on the pitch the team responded with a 6-2 hammering of play-off contenders Derby County. This victory, which guaranteed the Sky Blues position in the Championship, in turn earned the club and Micky Adams the F&C Performance of the Week Award.
