28 Mar 2006 SUNDERLAND SETTLE McCARTHY
Sunderland today announced that they have reached an undisclosed settlement with their former manager Mick McCarthy.
The former Millwal, Barnsleyl and Republic of Ireland coach was sacked on 6 March after three years at the club.
Agreement has also been reached with McCarthy's number two Ian Evans, who initially remained on the books.
"The club can confirm settlement terms have been agreed and finalised with Mick McCarthy and Ian Evans," said chief executive Peter Walker speaking on the Sunderland website.
Former midfielder and skipper Kevin Ball has stepped up from his role with the club's academy to take over as caretaker manager in the wake of McCarthy's departure.
