PEARCE HAILS

Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce today led the tributes to Sir Alex Ferguson, who celebrates 20 years in charge of Manchester United on 6th November.

"It is very difficult to name someone who has done better than Alex. He is a shining light for someone like myself, and any young manager that wants to progress in the game.

"To do it with one group of players is fine. Over 20 years you will do with three or four groups of players. He is probably second to none.

"It is a fantastic achievement when you look at what he he has won at the club, how he conducts himself and how he keeps driving himself on - you can see that burning ambition in his eyes.

"You know full well he wants to win something come the end of the season. Just picking his money up is not sufficient for him."
