END OF TAYLOR'S REIGN

Crystal Palace have sacked manager Peter Taylor. He took over at Selhurst Park following Iain Dowie's departure in June 2006, leaving Hull City after gaining back-to-back promotions.

They are currently lying in 19th place with 10 points from their opening 10 games.

A brief statement on the club's official website read: "Crystal Palace Football Club announce that Peter Taylor's contract has been terminated with immediate effect.

As well as Crystal Palace and Hull, he also managed Southend United, Gillingham, Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Since 2004, he had combined club management with his second spell of coaching England's Under-21 side, but relinquished the international role in January 2007 to concentrate on his duties at Palace.

He also had a one-match spell as caretaker manager of the full England team in November 2000.
