FERGUSON SAILS TO OVERALL AWARD

Sir Alex Ferguson has been named the overall annual winner for Season 2007/2008 for the Newfound Resorts LMA Managers Performance Award.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex had already scooped the award for the second and third quarters of the competition.

Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the League Managers Association, said: “Our awards are always keenly contested and for Sir Alex to win two quarterly awards in addition to the overall award is a testimony to his awesome managerial ability.”

The Awards are run by the League Managers Association and use a unique points-scoring system which enables all 92 professional Premier League and Football League managers to compete on equal terms.

As well as the award, Sir Alex Ferguson will receive a cruise in a luxury yacht along the South Coast.

Newfound NV Chief Executive Officer, Jayne McGiven, added her tribute;

“After his team's inspirational performances last season, Sir Alex was the obvious choice for this award.

“His commitment to Manchester United, his drive and undimmed ambition make him an excellent role model for not only aspiring footballers and managers but also for business people as well.

“Having recently taken over at Newfound, I am looking to welcoming Sir Alex to the Isle of Wight for a few days’ sailing in the new future and maybe taking the opportunity to pick up some leadership insights from a manager at the top of his game. At the very least he could knock the crew into order!"
