Colchester United have announced that their manager Geraint Williams has parted company with the club.
The U's are currently second from bottom of League One, following their 3-0 home defeat by MK Dons on Saturday.
Chairman Robbie Cowling paid tribute to Williams: "I am grateful to him for leaving the club in a much better state than when he joined it."
Colchester have named assistant boss Kit Symons as caretaker manager following Williams' departure.
A few hours later, Lee Sinnott has parted company with Port Vale after less than a year in charge.
Sinnott was appointed manager at Vale Park in November 2007 but failed to stop the Valiants from being relegated from League One.
Vale have since suffered a poor start to this season, losing three of their opening four home games, including a 4-1 defeat to Macclesfield on Saturday.
Assistant Manager Dean Glover is set to be placed in temporary charge.
