Harry Redknapp has spoken for the first time about the departure of Frank Lampard Junior from West Ham United to Chelsea.
The Hammers lost Redknapp's services as a manager in April, followed by his assistant manager Frank Lampard, the man with one of the most talented sons in English football since Redknapp's own son burst on to the scene.
The departure of the management duo made it impossible for Lampard Jr. to stay at Upton Park, especially after the midfielder had been so upset to see his long-time friend Rio Ferdinand leave the club for Leeds United.
Redknapp has said that Lampard will be a massive success at Stamford Bridge if he makes the switch to the Blues.
The midfielder is due to meet Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri after West Ham accepted an £11million offer.
"He will do well at Chelsea," Redknapp told BBC Radio.
"He is a young player and has a great attitude. And I'm sure he will be a big player at Chelsea next season. He will be perfect for them, it keeps him in London as well."
The former Hammers boss claimed that Lampard could help Chelsea challenge for honours next season.
"I think if Chelsea are looking to have a go next year - I think it will be a smashing move for him," he added.
