TURNER TO LEAVE HEREFORD POST

Graham Turner will leave his post as manager of Hereford United at the end of the season, after 14 years in charge.

The ex-Wolves, Aston Villa and Shrewsbury manager will maintain his current role as chairman and director of football at the club.

According to reports, first-team coach John Trewick will be offered the position.

Entering his 14th season at Hereford, Turner is currently the second longest-serving manager in England behind Sir Alex Ferguson CBE.

Turner has managed clubs in each of the top five tiers of English football, resulting in 30 years of managerial experience.

In the last three seasons he has overseen two promotions; with a play-off victory in the Conference in 2006, and from League Two in 2008 by finishing third.

In recognition of the latter achievement he was voted LMA League Two Manager of the Year.

Turner stated through the club website;

"I sincerely hope that this will not be my last managerial post."

"Whatever mitigating circumstances there may have been which led to the disappointing season it is the manager who must ultimately take responsibility for results. That I have done.

"John is a very experienced and respected football man who is capable of having an impact on the players and giving the club the impetus to put us into contention for a quick return to League One.

"I would like to reiterate my apologies to all our supporters for our poor league position. I'm sure that like me they looked forward to a season in League One following last season's promotion, only to be disappointed.

"I would also like to thank them for their support for me over the years and hope that support will continue for the club, the new manager and the players."
