Paulo Sousa has been confirmed as the new manager of Leicester City.

A statement from Leicester City Chairman, Milan Mandaric, read;

"I am delighted to acquire a manager of such great calibre. Paulo has an excellent reputation as both a player, and now as a manager, and I believe that he is the right man to take our club forward.

"I admire his style of football and I am sure all supporters will join me in looking ahead to the new season."

Sousa also stated;

"I am delighted to be here, it is a great club with great supporters and a rich history and I am very excited by the challenge.

"The Club has a fantastic stadium with great facilities and I am very much looking forward to working with the players."

Sousa joined Leicester from Swansea City where he guided Swansea to a 7th place finish in the Championship - their highest position in 27 years - narrowly missing out on the play-offs in 2009/10.

Sousa is a name etched in Portuguese footballing folklore. Born in 1970, Sousa - full name Paulo Manuel Carvalho Sousa - made 51 appearances for his country, in a career that included successful spells at Benfica, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, amongst others.
