Match Report
A near-perfect away performance at St. James Park earned Matt Hamshaw’s Millers an important three points on the road at Exeter City as they ran out as convincing 4-0 victors in Devon.
The visitors never surrendered control against a side on the cusp of the Sky Bet League One Play-off places at the start of play and any neutral watching would have been forgiven for being unable to identify the clubs’ respective standings in the third tier.
A confident first half display saw Hamshaw’s men rightly go into the interval with the advantage courtesy of Jamal Baptiste’s close-range finish, but it was the second half in which the Millers truly flexed muscles they haven’t been able to as a result of injuries within the camp as often as they’d have liked to this season.
Captain Joe Rafferty doubled the visitors lead to prompt a faultless five minutes in which Harry Gray added his second senior goal and Shaun McWilliams added further gloss to the scoreline with a fourth.
