The role of the modern manager extends far beyond the technical area, encompassing leadership, communication, data and analytics, sports science, media and organisational responsibilities. As the game evolves, managers are required to continually upskill, taking on new knowledge and developing practical capabilities that can be applied directly in their work.
The LMA’s vocational skills support is delivered through accredited programmes, short courses, webinars and partner-led education, all of which focus on the applied skills required to operate effectively in contemporary football environments. This includes the LMA Diploma in Football Management, delivered in partnership with the University of Liverpool, which provides a university-accredited qualification designed specifically to build the capacity to deal with the organisational and leadership challenges of modern football management.
“From my first few weeks joining Chelsea, the LMA were such a fundamental support to me both professionally and personally.”
