Match Report

Town Women secured their Barclays Women’s Super League 2 status for next season with an outstanding 3-0 win at league-leaders Birmingham City.

Birmingham started the game well and had the first shot on target inside the opening minute following some neat build up play, which resulted in Wilma Leidhammar’s effort from the edge of the area being well held by Lysianne Proulx on her Town debut.

Despite the hosts’ early pressure, it was Town who struck first in the sixth minute when Kit Graham brought the ball forward and fired it across into the top right corner to score her first goal for the club.

The Blues doubled their advantage in the 13th minute when Lucy Ashworth-Clifford’s corner wasn’t dealt with by the home side’s defence, leaving Princess Ademiluyi to send a looping header into the back of the net.

Things got even better for Town just two minutes later when Graham was once again allowed space to drive into the final third and then unleash a rocket past Lucy Thomas’ left post.
