The LMA, represented by Hope Powell CBE, Gemma Grainger and Member Services Director Rebecca Gentle, is proud to have provided its unique expertise and experience to lead a panel discussion at the mental health focused EFC Youth Exchange Event at Como.
The two-day event brought together leaders and practitioners from 140 European clubs, including CEOs, Technical Directors, Academy Directors and Sports Psychologists to share best practice on mental health, wellbeing, holistic talent development and psychology in high-performance environments.
The main objective of the forum was to provide shared learning and discussion around the requirement to build more sustainable, wellbeing -centric environments within football. The LMA was invited to speak at the event to provide its unique coaching insight and perspective within wider conversations around mental health, leadership and high-performance environments.

Rebecca Gentle LMA Member Services Director, commented: “It’s testament to the scale and impact of the LMA’s work in promoting and prioritising mental health and wellbeing that we are invited to speak at and lead these important conversations. There is a clear need for a more collaborative and structured approach to mental health and wellbeing across football, and the LMA is committed to helping lead that progress.
“Hope and Gemma provided fascinating and valuable insight into the evolving challenges of working within the game, how the conversation around mental health in elite performance environments has developed and the action required to ensure football responds effectively.
“A huge thank you to Hope and Gemma for their contribution, and to the EFC for its continued partnership with the LMA and for providing us with such a prominent platform to share our experience and help influence positive change in the industry.”
