LMA 1000 Club Private Dinner with Roy Hodgson CBE and Mick McCarthy

As winning bidders in our ‘In The Game’ charity auction at the 33rd LMA Annual Awards, Paul Shears and his team were treated to an entertaining evening with two LMA Hall of Fame 1000 Club Members. Former England, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson CBE, and former Republic of Ireland and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy attended the dinner at the Kimpton Fitzroy and hosted the evening.

As part of the evening, both managers went through their careers and discussed a number of key occasions, great players, and dominant teams that they faced. Thank you to both Roy and Mick for their time and thank you to Paul and his team for purchasing the dinner. We are glad they were able to enjoy a brilliant evening with two icons of football.

Indeed Masterclass with Oli Patrick and Sir Steve Redgrave CBE

In March, we successfully concluded the LMA & Indeed Leadership and High Performance Event Series at the British Museum’s iconic Hotung Gallery. Guests enjoyed an exclusive drinks reception among the gallery's artifacts, followed by a dinner and wellbeing session led by LMA Expert Oli Patrick, concluding the evening with a distinguished Q&A with Olympic icon Sir Steve Redgrave.

To kick off the evening, Oli delivered a keynote presentation titled "Wellbeing in the Workplace: Achieving Peak Performance." Drawing on 25 years of experience collaborating with elite athletes and global brands, Oli provided the group with actionable insights into the critical roles of physical and mental energy, sleep, hydration, stress management, and recovery in daily life.

Following dinner, Sky Sports presenter Hayley McQueen hosted a "Champions Q&A" with five-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave. During the session, Sir Steve explored the essence of high performance and the discipline required to become a champion. He also shared a compelling comparison of his experiences winning his first gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Games versus his final victory in Sydney 2000. A highlight of the evening saw guests granted the rare opportunity to view and hold Sir Steve’s gold medal from the 1996 Atlanta Games.

Nike Powerhouse Project with Kelly Smith MBE

Kelly Smith MBE recently supported Nike with the launch of their new cohort for The Powerhouse Project. The event took place at Nike HQ in London and attendees heard from both Mollie and Rosie Kmita as well as previous alumni for what they can expect in the year ahead.

Kelly provided an honest and insightful Q&A that reviewed both her successful playing career and coaching career so far at Arsenal as part of Renée Slegers’ backroom team. Kelly also took time to speak with some of the new cohort one-to-one following her Q&A, offering advice that has helped her through her playing and coaching career.

Spotlight On - St. George's Park Partner Residential

Earlier this month, partners of the LMA visited St George’s Park, the home of the LMA and English Football for our second LMA Leadership and High Performance Residential.

The day began with a Leadership Masterclass delivered by Katie Mobed (nee Warriner), followed by a Performance and Wellbeing Masterclass with Oliver Patrick, with both sessions exploring what high performance really requires.

After lunch, our partners heard from FA Chief Football Officer Dan Ashworth, who shared insights on the future of the England teams and the vision behind the elite environment at St George’s Park before enjoying an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the National Football Centre.

We closed the day with a fantastic Q&A hosted by Hayley McQueen, joined by LMA Committee Member and 1000 Club Member David Moyes OBE and former Everton player Phil Jagielka.

A brilliant day of learning, reflection, and insight into what leadership really looks like in high-performance environments.

A special thank you to our Commercial Partners for attending the Residential, and to Katie, Oli, Hayley, David and Phil for their time and contribution in making the day such an insightful and valuable experience for all involved.
